Green Day frontman, Billie Joe Armstrong has momentarily hung up his punk boots in favour of some good ole fashioned rock ‘n roll for the latest instalment of his ongoing No Fun Mondays quarantine covers project. Listen below to his wholesome humdinger rendition of Raspberry’s frontman, Eric Carmen’s classic 1976 solo hit, “That’s Rock ‘n Roll”.

“Today’s song is ‘That’s Rock ‘n’ Roll’ by Eric Carmen who was also in The Raspberries,” Armstrong wrote in the video’s description. “However the first time I heard this song was by teen heartthrob Shaun Cassidy. My sisters would dance around the house to this one!”
Armstrong has already racked up a pretty solid collection of covers since the coronavirus pandemic drove us all indoors. Previous additions to the collection include The Wonders’ “That Thing You Do!” from the 1996 film of the same name, in tribute to the late Adam Schlesinger. He’s also covered Tommy James & The Shondells’ “I Think We’re Alone Now,” Johnny Thunders’ “You Can’t Put Your Arms Around a Memory,” “War Stories” by Starjet, Don Backy’s “Amico,” Kim Wilde’s “Kids in America” and the Prince-penned “Manic Monday” with Bangles singer Susannah Hoffs.
Looking forward to the next instalment! Until then, catch up on the whole series here.
