Late last year, Alt-metal luminaries, Evanescence put a heavy goth spin on Fleetwood Mac’s 1977 hit, “The Chain.” Their spooky rendition of the tune featured in the trailer for an Xbox Game Studios video game, Gear 5, from the Gears of War series. The rocked-up and very Evanescence'd version of the tune is led by epic, pounding drums and a melancholy surge of guitars that amp up Amy Lee's urgent and emotional, vocal delivery.
Now, the band have just released this epic official music video to go with the track, which they describe as: "Fun with smoke bombs in a post-apocalyptic world as we walk through the fire together. We hope you love it as much as we do. Let us know what you think.”

Speaking of the track back in November last year, Evanescence frontwoman Amy Lee said: "This cover was so fun to make. We love Fleetwood Mac and wanted to paint a dark and epic picture with our take on ‘The Chain. The lyrics make me feel the power of standing together against great forces trying to pull us apart, perhaps even from the inside. I really wanted to drive that home in our version, and even made everyone in the band sing by the end of it! We’re beyond excited to share this with our fans and I’m really looking forward to playing it live.”
The Fleetwood Mac original has been covered in the past by everyone from Harry Styles and Brandi Carlile to Three Days Grace and Toothgrinder, but it's fair to say that this is probably the most brooding rendition of the classic rock hit to date!
