Earlier this year, the music universe when into a frenzy with, not only photographic evidence that Jack White and Jack Black had met each other in person, but that they had also recorded a song together.
Tenacious D shared an image from their Instagram account of Jack Black meeting Jack White at London’s Heathrow Airport, leading fans to speculate about a potential collaboration. The trio documented their high-anticipated follow-up meeting in a mini-documentary titled, ‘Jack Grey’ in which Black refers to the mysterious song as “a stone-cold jam.”
Now, the wait is finally over! Tenacious D have released their brand-new Jack White produced single “Don’t Blow It, Kage,” – in reference to Tenacious D’s Kyle Gass, whose nickname is ‘Kage’ – that was recorded in White’s Nashville home studio. The comical and thoroughly Tenacious D track sees Black ride a rollercoaster of emotions, roaring at Gass, aka Kage, not to blow their chance to impress the music icon, telling him to “just play the best shit you ever fuckin’ played.” After a proficient acoustic solo, Black berates him with, “You blew it, Kage / You played the worst shit you ever fuckin’ played.” Until Jack White joins the hilarious pair around the 1:23 mark and turns it all around with a game-changing observation. Check it out below!
