The Red Hot Chili Peppers have announced that the one-and-only, cosmic, psychedelic, 'Grandfather of Funk', George Clinton and his band Parliament Funkadelic will be joining them on their upcoming Aussie tour, due to commence in a few short weeks. 

Tickets for the tour sold out almost immediately when it was announced late last year, but if you missed out fear not - this announcement comes with the news that an extra 500 tickets have been added nationwide. Jump in quick though, they won't last long! Tickets and info here. 

George Clinton and the RHCP boys go way back to 1985 when the band asked George Clinton to produce their second studio album, Freaky Styley. Keen to establish their funk origins, and probably equally keen to work with a long time idol, the boy's dove head first into a session of cocaine-fuelled creativity and "productive partying" to produce an album still considered an early classic amongst fans.

In the years to follow, the artists have continued to collaborate together, including a performance at the 1993 Grammy Awards and most recently on Clinton's 2008 album, George Clinton And His Gangsters Of Love. Now, with George Clinton announcing his retirement from touring after 2019, this will likely be the last time these icons of funk will appear together.

So, in anticipation for what's sure to be an early contender for 2019's top tours, let's take a moment to remember how cool it was when George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic landed an actual UFO - aka 'The Mothership' on stage.
