Hot off their sold-out Australian tour, Red Hot Chili Peppers have jumped in the tour bus and headed straight to… The Pyramids in Giza, Egypt!
The veteran funk rockers have announced a live stream from their upcoming show in Egypt. The show will be broadcast live starting at 5am AEST on Saturday March 16.
You can watch the broadcast on the band’s website redhotchilipeppers.com or on their YouTube, Facebook or Twitter channels. It’s an early start for fans on this side of the world, but promises to be worth the early rise as the Chili’s join an exclusive list of performers including the Grateful Dead, Yanni, Scorpions, Frank Sinatra, Kylie Minogue, Mariah Carey and Sting, who have performed at the iconic Pyramids.
In 2013 the group performed in Johannesburg and Cape Town, so this gig will be only the second time they have visited the African continent in their 36 year career.
From Flea: “Before each new place my body tingled with excitement, a yearning for a new mystery to unfold, a fascination with a new culture, the possibility of new friends, tasting new food, smelling new tastes, absorbing new rhythms. Learning. Learning. Learning. It is happening again right now, my heart is abuzz with joy at the prospect of performing in Egypt. I’m so grateful and humbled for the impending experience.”
We sphinx you should tune in for this one.
