Wowsa! Dig this thunderous version of Chuck Berry’s "Sweet Little Roller", with Mark Bolan upfront, Dave Edmunds on lead guitar (and lead vocals on second verse), and a cast of thousands, including some Kinks, Elkie Brooks and even Alvin Stardust who, apart from looking here like a dead ringer for a young Doc Neeson (circa Keystone Angels), proves his chops with a killer vocal on the third verse.
(Anyone know who the blonde guy is by the way?)
And hey, while we’re at it, here’s the greatest song that Chuck Berry never wrote, "I Knew The Bride". Nick Lowe wrote it but Dave Edmunds had the hit with it first. (It sounded great blasting out in 3XY in ’77!).
Here they together, with their amazing band Rockpile, absolutely pounding it out!
Does rock’n’roll get much better than this? No it does not.
